iv. FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT :

WARNING

If diesel leakage is detected, do not start

the vehicle or allow an open flame or spark

near the vehicle. Have the fuel leak

repaired immediately.

The fuel system is under pressure. Relieve

fuel system pressure before replacing the

filter.

Description :

The fuel filter is mounted on firewall. A

band clamp secures the fuel filter in place.

Replace the fuel filter when changing the

engine oil (every 90,000 km or 72 months).

When the vehicle is operated in adverse

conditions or where fuel quality is

questionable, more frequent replacement

may be necessary.

Removal :

1. Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the

power supply to the system fuel pump and

cranking the engine.

2. Disconnect the negative(-) battery cable.

3. Remove air filter assembly. (Refer air filter

removal procedure)

4. Remove the fuel line connections (Quick fit

Connectors) to the fuel filter.

5. Loosen the bolts, securing the fuel filter, in

the mounting bracket.

6. Remove the fuel filter from the mounting

bracket.

Installation :

1. Place the fuel filter in the mounting bracket.

Be sure to orient the fuel filter in the proper

direction.

2. Tighten the bolts that secure the filter in the

mounting bracket.

3. Connect the fuel lines to the filter, making

sure the lines are secure.

4. Lower down the vehicle from hoist

5. Start the engine and inspect the connections

for leaks. Stop the engine immediately and

repair any leaks.
