“A” Circuit

Range /

Performance.

H

1. Engine does not start.

2. Engine vibrates at certain speeds.

This DTC gets logged if the

ECU fails to detect the

missing teeth on the

flywheel twice; at the

expected location.

1. Excessive engine

acceleration / deceleration.

2. Incorrect air gap

between crank sensor tip to

flywheel teeth.

3. Incorrect crank sensor

orientation is possible

causes. Normal engine

acceleration/ declaration

are taken into account

before raising the fault.

1. Visually check sensor.

Check for metallic

particles/burr in sensor tip

and flywheel teeth.

2. Check sensor connections

for rust dirt etc.

3. Check Electrical continuity.

4. Check flywheel teeth for

damage ~5. Check ECU.

1. Visually check sensor for metallic particles/burr in

sensor tip and flywheel teeth; if noticed clean the

sensor tip and flywheel to remove any foreign

particle.

2. Check for gap between crank sensor and fly

wheel.

3. Check for availability of missing tooth in the fly-

wheel.

4. Check sensor connections for rust dirt etc.;

Ensure clean connector pins and proper fitment.

5. Check Electrical continuity between ECU pins 15,

14 and crank sensor connector as per circuit

schematic; follow Electrical continuity check

procedure. Replace/ Rectify Harness if required.

Check whether the EMS ecu pin 14 is short

circuited to battery/ground. If so rectify the wiring

harness connections.

6. Check flywheel teeth for damage; Replace

flywheel if found faulty.

7. Check ECU; if problem still persist Replace ECU.

8. After rectification test engine in following cycle

a) Start the engine; in neutral gear and press the

accelerator pedal fully (as quickly as possible)

for engine to go from Idle to fly up.

b) Stay at fly up for few seconds and suddenly

release the accelerator for the engine to come

back to idle. Repeat the above cycle 3 to 4

times and check the DTC does not reappear.

Position Sensor

“A” Circuit.

H

1. Engine does not start.

This DTC gets logged If the

ECU does not detect the

cam signal,

1. Open circuit on Cam

sensor connector.

2. If there is no cam flank /

movement for crank

rotation.

1. Visually check sensor.

Check for metallic

particles/burr in sensor tip

and flywheel teeth.

2. Check sensor connections

for rust dirt etc.

3. Check Electrical continuity.

4. Check cam shaft flag.

5. Check the setting of the

timing/pump.

6. Check ECU.

1. Check for sensor reference voltage supply 2

faults and rectify these faults if any by following

their rectification procedure. Ensure sensor is

connected with the connector (wiring harness)

2. Check sensor connections for rust dirt etc.;

Ensure clean connector pins and proper fitment.

3. Check gap between cam sensor tip to cam shaft

gear gap should be close to 1.7 mm.

4. Check Electrical continuity between ECU pins 78,

34, 16 and Cam sensor connector as per circuit

schematics; if necessary replace/ rectify the

harness.

5. Check cam shaft gear (cam sensor target hole);

Replace cam gear if found faulty (e.g. edge of the

hole damaged).

6. Visually check sensor. Check for metallic

particles/burr in sensor tip; Clean the sensor tip and

cam to remove any foreign particle.
