8.25 BODYCONTROLMODULE (BCM):

Body Control Module (BCM) performs various

body electrical functions of the vehicle such as

interior and exterior lighting, wiper and wash

control, perimeter alarm for the theft detection

mechanism, vehicle lock and access control etc,

by considering various inputs from switches,

sensors etc which are connected to it either by

hardwired or through LIN or CAN. BCM controls

the lamps, LEDs, door lock actuators, wash

motors, and electro mechanical relays etc as and

when required depending on the control logics

loaded inside.

BCM communicates with many other ECUs of the

vehicle over CAN. Also, BCM acts as a CAN-CAN

gateway in case the vehicle consist two

independent CAN networks. Similarly, BCM

interacts with the LIN based control units or

sensors and further act as the LIN-CAN gate way

to exchange the necessary information as and

when required with the rest of the ECUs.

BCM controls the complete power mode strategy

of the vehicle where in it communicates about the

current power state of the vehicle to the other

ECUs.

LOCATION:

Left side of dashboard above and behind glow

box, mounted on CCB.

REMOVAL OF BCM:

1. Switch OFF the ignition (if ON).

2. Disconnect battery negative terminal.

3. Remove glow box if required for better access.

4. Disconnect the BCM connection.

5. Remove the three screws & take out the BCM

unit.

REFITMENT OF BCM

Follow the reverse procedure of removal of BCM
