ENGINE

2.1.8.2.2 SYSTEM COMPONENTS

A. ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT

The EGR system of the vehicle is controlled by the

Engine EMS ECU.

For more details refer EMS Section in this group

.

BLOCK DIAGRAM

The EMS ECU controls the vacuum solenoid valve

which in turn controls the integrated EGR cooler by-

pass. The vacuum solenoid valve controls the By-

pass actuator by applying vacuum or releasing it as

per the signal from the EMS ECU.

ASSEMBLY EGR COOLER MODULE WITH

EGR VALVE AND BY PASS VALVE

Assembly EGR cooler module consists of the

EGR cooler

EGR valve

Bypass valve

The EGR cooler assembly is provided with inbuilt

electronic EGR and a by pass valve.

The EGR Cooler is a heat exchanger that is used to

cool the exhaust gases before they are recirculated

to the intake manifold. The hot exhaust gases are

routed into the EGR cooler from the exhaust pipes

through the EGR valve. In the EGR cooler, the ex-

haust gases are made to pass through metal tubes

that are surrounded by engine coolant. The cooled

exhaust gas is more effective to help to reduce the

pollutants.

The EGR valve is electrically operated by the EMS.

There is an EGR Cooler bypass valve, which is con-

trolled through the EMS using an electro-pneumatic

valve.
