Steps for SRS (Airbag) ECU cannibalizing (try out) during Service

:

Please refer Annexure 1 of SRS ECU Serviceability document version 2 (Serviceability_SRS_ECU_v

2.doc).

Cannibalization meaning: - to remove a part from a vehicle to repair or make a similar unit.

1. Connect the Service tool to vehicle OBD connector.

2. Turn ON Ignition, Clear the DTC’s and Check for DTC’s in both the Airbag ECU’s.

3. Read the ECU Assembly number ($22 72 34) using service tool and compare it with Look up

table/PLM server (or with old ECU) as per defined VC. It should match with the existing ECU

data.

4. Read ECU Parameterization number using service tool ($22 72 44) and compare with Look up

table/PLM server (or with old ECU) as per defined VC. It should match with the existing ECU

data.

5.

If both the Assembly number & Parameterization number matches then only ECU replacement

will be allowed, otherwise not.

Vehicle should not be allowed outside the Service station with the Cannibalized ECU from

another vehicle.
