Restraints Control Module (SRS / Airbag) -ECU Replacement Procedure

SRS (Airbag) ECU replacement procedure in service

1. Remove the central console housing in the car.

2. Remove the two wiring harness connectors (first chamber A & then Chamber B) from Airbag

ECU.

3. Remove the 3 mounting screws of Airbag ECU.

4. Replace the existing Airbag ECU with a new one

(Compare the ECU Assembly number & Part

number from ECU label of both the ECU’s. The new ECU should have the same Assembly

number & Part number as per the existing Airbag ECU label in the vehicle).

5. Fix the ECU on mounting studs & tighten the mounting screws. Tightening torque for fixing of

ECU MA = 9 ± 1.5 Nm. (Please refer to “

ECU offer drawing.pdf

” or Look up table in service tool

for the mounting direction of SRS ECU).

6. Connect the two wiring harness connectors to the Airbag ECU. Please ensure the correct fitment

of the wiring harness connectors (Connector coding D (blue) & C (brown)) connected to chamber

A & B respectively.

Please ensure the locking sound for both the Airbag ECU connectors.

” for the connector pin details)).

7. Connect the Service tool to vehicle OBD connector.

8. Turn ON Ignition, Clear the DTC’s and Check for DTC’s in the new airbag ECU.

9. Read VC and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) from IC or BCM or EMS ECU of the same

vehicle.

10. Read Assembly/ Container number from ECU ($22 72 34) and compare it with server data.

11. Check the parameterization part number as per VC from

PLM

server or from the look up table.

Note

:

Unique Parameterization number has been defined ensuring correct configuration and

required Calibration for defined VC.

Look up

table shall be flashed on service tool window to read

the required ECU details (Assembly number, Parameterization number and CAL parameter ID) for

respective VC.
