B162D - 14: Tailgate State Switch - Circuit Short to Ground or Open

Customer Symptom
Tailgate will not unlock
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
Unnecessary battery power consumption (because
Interior Roof lamp in Auto mode selection will always
ON for 10 minutes.)
Lamp Status (If Any)
Interior Roof lamp in Auto mode selection will ON for 10
minutes every time any door open.
Fault Detection Condition
This fault will be logged after the input switch test
routine execution. User has to operate the switch
manually during routine. If short to ground fault is
detected for Tailgate State Switch, then this DTC code
will be returned with the Routine results.
Normal Operating Condition
There should not be any fault returned by routine
Probable Trouble Area
1. BCM connector Fault.
2. Rear side wiring harness short to ground
3. Tailgate State Switch is damaged or stuck or
faulty
4. BCM ECU fault
Healing Condition
1. Ignition OFF
ON
2. Clear DTC Command
Component Details:
Tailgate State Switch, BCM connector
Functionality:
If the Tailgate State Switch is Short to Ground or open, then the Tailgate state is closed / ajar state.
If the Tailgate is closed, then BCM shall receive the feedback of Tailgate as closed / ajar status.
Preliminary Checks:
Check Battery Voltage (9V-16V)
Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
