B162D - 12: Tailgate State Switch - Circuit short to Battery

Customer Symptom
1. Interior Roof lamp in Auto mode selection
doesn’t operate when Tailgate is opened.
2. The vehicle will get lock on RKE lock command.
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
Interior Roof lamp in Auto mode selection does not
operate when Tailgate is opened.
Lamp Status (If Any)
1. Roof lamp in Auto mode selection is OFF.
2. IC shows Tailgate open status always
Fault Detection Condition
This fault will be logged after the input switch test
routine execution. User has to operate the switch
manually during routine. If short to battery or open
circuit fault is detected for Tailgate State Switch, then
this DTC code will be returned with the routine results.
Normal Operating Condition
There should not be any fault returned by routine
Probable Trouble Area
1. BCM connector Fault
2. Rear side wiring harness Short to battery
3. Tailgate State Switch is damaged or stuck or
faulty
4. BCM ECU fault
Healing Condition
1. Ignition OFF
ON
2. Clear DTC Command
Component Details:
Tailgate State Switch, BCM connector
Functionality:
If the Tailgate State Switch is short to Battery, then the Tailgate State is in open state.
If the Tailgate State is open, then BCM shall receive the feedback of Tailgate State as open status.
Preliminary Checks:
Check Battery Voltage
Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
Trouble Shooting:
