27.Install spreader

(Part No.287058903303)

and

dial indicator. Spread the carrier. Do not

spread it over 0.58 mm.

28.Remove dial indicator. Install differential case

assembly into carrier with the help of mallet.

Ensure differential case shim

(spacer bearing

preload is behind the bearing cap)

WARNING

Carelessness while installing differential case

assembly may result in injury.

29.Install bearing caps. Ensure correct fitment of

caps by matching letters on caps and carrier

on either side. Use torque bearing cap screws

to specification.

Check ring gear and pinion backlash at three

equally spaced points with dial indicator. Backlash

tolerance is 0.13 to 0.20 mm. and should not vary

more than 0.08 mm. between the three points

checked.

30.High backlash is corrected by moving ring gear

closer to pinion.

31.Low backlash is corrected by moving ring gear

away from pinion.

32.These corrections are made by switching

shims from one side of differential case to

other.

backlash is within the limit 0.12 – 0.20mm,

check ring gear and pinion tooth contact

pattern.
