AIRCONDITIONING
COMPRESSOR OIL
Compressor oil is necessary for the lubrication of
compressor bearings, themoving and sliding surfaces.
The reason is the same as for the engine requiring
lubricating oil. However, the compressor oil circulates
through the entire refrigeration cycle, as such
SPECIALLY RECOMMENDED oil must be used.
Compressor Oil Quantity
When the air conditioner is operated, some amount of
oil is discharged together with the refrigerant from the
compressor and circulates within the refrigeration
cycle.
If the amount of oil discharged by the compressors
into the refrigeration cycle is very small, there will be
hardly any adverse effect on the refrigeration cycle,
and instead, there will be the benefit of improving valve
lubrication.
Conversely, if there is a large amount of oil circulating
through the refrigeration cycle troubles may develop.
Refer trouble shooting chapter.
Caution
Oil
ND oil 6 is used in the air conditioning system which
contains CFC 12. It doesn’t dissolve and circulate in
new refrigerant HFC 134a. If used the life of the
compressor is greatly reduced.
Therefore, new ND-OIL 8 for 10 P(A) type
compressor andND-OIL 9 forTV typemust be used
for the HFC 134a cycle.
To distinguish HFC 134a, a label is attached to the
compressor as shown.
0 rings
The O-rings of the piping connectors that are used in
CFC 12 air conditioning systems and those that are
used in HFC 134a system are not interchangeable. If
O-rings for CFC 12 system are used by mistake in
the connections of an HFC 134a system, the O-rings
will foam and swell, resulting in leakage of refrigerant.
Therefore, always use genuine O-rings for HFC 134a
system.
