FRONT AXLE - 4

Remove outer pinion bearing cup using Adaptor to

remove pinion outer cup. Pt. no. 2704 5890 3315

Caution :

Do not nick carrier bore.

Note :

A pinion inner slinger is located between

the inner pinion bearing cone and pinion gear.

Remove inner pinion bearing. using press Pt. no. 2698

5890 3515. Adaptor ring Pt. no. 2698 5890 3516.

Adaptor to remove pinion inner bearing Pt. no. 2704

5890 3323.

Remove inner pinion slinger.

Caution :

Do no all allow gear to fall, it can get

damaged or strike the foot of workman.

ASSEMBLY

Shaft Bearing & Seals.

Install the right-hand roller bearing assembly into the

carrier trunnion with Dolley for pressing cylinder roller

bearing in housing Pt. no. 2704 5890 3306 until the

tool bottoms out against the carrier.

Note :

Make sure that the bearing numbers on the

race are placed against the tool.

Install the left-hand needle bearing assembly into the

axle tube with Dolley for pressing needle bearing in

tube Pt. no. 2704 5890 3305.

Note :

Make sure that the bearing numbers on the

race are placed against the tool.

Assemble the oil seal in tube with Dolley for pressing

seal in tube Pt. no. 2704 5890 3302.

Carrier Section

Apply grease to new side gear thrust washers and

hubs of side gears.

Assemble both side gears.

Apply grease to new pinion mate spherical washers,

and the pinion mate gears.

Assemble pinion mate gears.

Caution :

Replace gears as a complete set. Do not

mix new gears with old gears.
