Note :

Tighten the nut only enough to remove the

shaft end play. Then continue to tighten the

nut in small increments until the correct bearing

preload torque is attained. Exercise care

during the bearing preload torque adjustment.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN or loosen and then

retighten the nut. Do not exceed the bearing

preload torque.

If exceeded the collapsible preload spacer on

the pinion gear shaft will have to be replaced.

The bearing preload torque will have to be

readjusted afterward.

Using a torque wrench, ensure that the rotating torque

of pinion is between 1.7 - 3.9 N.m. with new bearings

Mount dial indicator and locate tip of indicator on

flat surface of case. Force the differential case as

far as possible in the direction towards the indicator.

With force still applied, set indicator to zero (0).

Force the differential assembly as far as it will go, in

opposite direction. Repeat until the same reading is

obtained. Record the reading.
