EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS

A) EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION

FUNCTION :

As the name says, part of the exhaust gases is recirculated into the combustion chamber. The purpose of this

technology is the reduction of the combustion temperature which consequentially reduces the NOx emissions.

WORKING :

A defined portion of the engine exhaust emission are extracted and returned to the fresh air / fuel mixture via

solenoid valve. The exhaust gas recirculation is controlled by a EGR valve which meters the recirculated

exhaust gas with reference to factors such as engine speed, intake manifold pressure and engine temperature.
