9. CONDENSER AND RECEIVER DRIER
CONDENSER
The condenser is a heat exchanger used to cool the
hot vaporised refrigerant. Also the refrigerant chang-
es its state from vapour to liquid. The condenser is
placed behind the radiator. Cooling fan is placed be-
hind the condenser to pull ambient air through
radiator and condenser.
CONDENSER SEALING DUCTS
Sealing’s are used to guide the flow of the air to the
condenser and also to avoid the hot air recirculating
from the engine compartment to the condenser.
RECEIVER DRIER (R.D)
The receiver drier is integrated into the Condenser
and has three main functions.
1. It absorbs the moisture in the refrigerant.
2. It allows only liquid (high pressure liquid) to pass
through to the TXV.
3. It keeps a reserve of refrigerant to accommodate
fluctuating refrigerant requirements.
10. CHILLER UNIT
The chiller unit is heat exchanger and it is used to
cool the coolant which is used for battery cooling.
Chiller consist of plate type heat exchanger, Ther-
mostatic Expansion vale (TXV) with inbuilt solenoid
valve.
After condenser, liquid refrigerant flows through TXV
and refrigerant temperature drops. Low temperature
refrigerant enters from chiller inlet (refrigerant chan-
nel) and come out from chiller outlet.
Similarly high temperature coolant comes from bat-
tery and enters in the chiller (coolant channel). It gets
cool inside chiller and low temperature coolant
comes out from chiller.
ON / OFF type inbuilt solenoid valve used to control
refrigerant flow through the chiller.
11. COOLANT PUMP
Coolant Pump is used to circulate coolant in the bat-
tery cooling system (BCS). It operates on low voltage
and it gets signals from VCU.
COOLANT PUMP

ing system (BCS). It operates on low voltage and its
signals from VCU.
