B222D - 11: Low Beam Switch - Circuit Short to Ground

Customer Symptom

Low beam always ON

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

1. Low beam always ON

2. Battery Drain

Lamp Status (If Any)

Continuous ON

Fault Detection Condition

This fault will be logged after the input switch test

routine execution. User has to operate the switch

manually during routine. If short to ground fault is

detected for low beam switch then this DTC code will

be returned with the Routine results.

Normal Operating Condition

There should not be any fault returned by routine

Probable Trouble Area

1. BCM connector Fault

2. Low beam switch input short to ground from

Cockpit wiring harness

3. Low beam switch damaged or stuck

4. Combi switch connector fault.

5. BCM ECU fault

Healing Condition

1. Ignition OFF

ON

2. Clear DTC Command

Component Details:

Low beam switch is part of combination stalk switch and interfaced to the BCM. If the IGN is on and

headlamps are ON and if the combi switch is at low beam position then low beams will turn ON.

Preliminary Checks:

1. Check Battery Voltage (12.5 V and above)

2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
