B2239 – 12: Rear Fog Lamp Control Switch – Short to Battery or Open Circuit

Customer Symptom

1. Rear fog lamps always OFF.

2. Facia Switch illumination for rear fog lamp

always OFF

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

1. Rear fog lamps always OFF.

2. Facia Switch illumination for raer fog lamp

always OFF

Lamp Status (If Any)

Always OFF

Fault Detection Condition

This fault will be logged after the input switch test

routine execution. User has to operate the switch

manually during routine. If short to battery or open

circuit fault is detected for rear fog lamp switch then this

DTC code will be returned with the Routine results.

Normal Operating Condition

There should not be any fault returned by routine

Probable Trouble Area

1. BCM connector Fault

2. Rear fog lamp switch input wire Short to battery

or open circuit from cockpit wiring harness

3. Switch damaged or stuck

4. Facia Switch connector fault.

5. BCM ECU fault

Healing Condition

1. Ignition OFF



2. Clear DTC Command

Component Details:

Rear fog lamp switch is part of facia switch bank. If the IGN is ON and headlamps / position lamps are

ON , front fog lamps are ON and user presses the rear fog lamp switch, rear fog lamps will turn ON.

Preliminary Checks:

1. Check Battery Voltage (12.5 V & above)

2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.

Trouble Shooting:-
