B222D - 12: Low Beam Switch - Circuit short to Battery or Open Circuit

Customer Symptom

Low beam always OFF

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

Low beam always OFF

Lamp Status (If Any)

Always OFF

Fault Detection Condition

This fault will be logged after the input switch test

routine execution. User has to operate the switch

manually during routine. If short to battery or open

circuit fault is detected for low beam switch then this

DTC code will be returned with the Routine results.

Normal Operating Condition

There should not be any fault returned by routine

Probable Trouble Area

1. BCM connector Fault

2. Low beam switch Short to battery or open circuit

from cockpit wiring harness

3. Switch damaged or stuck

4. Combi switch connector fault.

5. BCM ECU fault

Healing Condition

1. Ignition OFF

ON

2. Clear DTC Command

Component Details:

Low beam switch is part of combination stalk switch and interfaced to the BCM. If the IGN is on and

headlamps are ON and if the combi switch is at low beam position then low beams will turn ON.

Preliminary Checks:

1. Check Battery Voltage (12.5 V & above)

2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
