6. Tap gently and take out the shock absorber

from the lower end to disconnect from the rear

axle and remove the Shock absorber.

INSPECTION

Check the condition of shock absorber for any

leakage and damage, if required replace the same

with new one

.

CAUTION

Only use recommended shock absorber. Fitment

of non-genuine shock absorber may lead to the

coil spring coming out in dynamic condition

especially on rough roads and also during jacking.

REFITMENT

For refitment follow the reverse procedure of

removal. Apply the specified torque as per the

procedure given in

“Rear suspension links

tightening procedure”

.

VII. REAR COIL SPRING REMOVAL

NOTE

In 4X4 vehicle the spring colour will be black.

In 4X2 vehicle the spring colour will be grey.

1. Support the vehicle on two post lift and remove

the wheels from both ends.

2. Support the rear axle assembly from below.

3. Disconnect both the upper links from the rear

axle by removing the mounting bolts.

4. Remove the pan hard rod.

Pan hard rod removal process)

5. Disconnect the lower end of shock absorber

from the rear axle bracket. Follow the same

procedure at other end also.

6. Lift the vehicle carefully and take out the coil

spring along with the spring seat

(Auxiliary

spring rubber).

INSPECTION

Check the condition of spring seat for any

damage, cut if necessary replace with new one.

REFITMENT

NOTE

While replacing coil spring ensure that the

colour coding on both the spring are same.

The coil spring coding marks on the spring is

located at two coil turns from the top.

1. Place the coil spring along with the spring seat

at the top on to the rear axle.

NOTE

Auxiliary spring rubber is itself act as a top cup for

spring.

2. Lower the two post lift till the spring along with

the rubber seat is placed properly on the

chassis.

NOTE

If the spring does not get compressed to the

required length add some weight in the rear

loading area (boot).

3. Install the lower end of the shock absorber on

to the rear axle bracket and lock the same by

applying the specified torque.

NOTE

For tightening torque refer tightening torque table.

4. Connect all the links which are removed earlier

from the rear axle.

5. Apply the specified torque as per the

procedure given in

“Rear suspension links

tightening procedure”

.

NOTE

Shock absorber should be full tightened in vehicle

ECIE condition.(2 persons in front seat, two

persons in rear middle seat)
