F. OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR

FUNCTION:

The ambient temperature sensor is an encapsulated

thermistor that provides the ECU with an input of

external air temperature. Ambient sensor is a ther-

mistor that decreases its resistance when

temperature increases and increases when tempera-

ture decreases

.

LOCATION:

The sensor is located on the lower hood latch brack-

et on the top radiator tie member.

REMOVAL

1. Open the bonnet.

2. Carefully pull out the ambient temperature sen-

sor from its mounting bracket.

3. Disconnect the electrical connection.

4. Take out the sensor.

INSPECTION:

Measure the resistance between the sensor termi-

nals under at least two temperatures. The resistance

values should meet the values shown.
