F. OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
FUNCTION:
The ambient temperature sensor is an encapsulated
thermistor that provides the ECU with an input of
external air temperature. Ambient sensor is a ther-
mistor that decreases its resistance when
temperature increases and increases when tempera-
ture decreases
.
LOCATION:
The sensor is located on the lower hood latch brack-
et on the top radiator tie member.

REMOVAL
1. Open the bonnet.
2. Carefully pull out the ambient temperature sen-
sor from its mounting bracket.
3. Disconnect the electrical connection.
4. Take out the sensor.
INSPECTION:
Measure the resistance between the sensor termi-
nals under at least two temperatures. The resistance
values should meet the values shown.
