Inspection:
•
While removing fuel tank, check all hoses and pipes
connected to fuel tank for leaks, loose connections,
deterioration or damage. Replace if necessary.
•
Check fuel module gasket for leaks, cracks etc.
Replace if necessary.
•
Visually inspect fuel tank for leaks and damage.
Replace if necessary.
Fuel Tank Purging Procedure
:
A small amount of fuel may be released after fuel
lines are disconnected. To avoid the chances of
injury, cover the pipe to be disconnected with cotton
cloth. Do not use cotton waste.
To avoid damage to vapour hoses while
disconnecting, slide back the clamps then twist
the lines as you pull.
When disconnecting fuel hose quick connectors,
use shop towels to absorb fuel, protecting
equipment and personnel, safety devices.
WARNING
CAUTION
The purging may not remove all fuel vapours.
Therefore any repair on fuel tank using external heat
or flame may result in explosion causing personal
injury or damage. Wash the tank throughly before
carrying any repair
•
Remove fuel tank from the vehicle. (Refer procedure
as mentioned for fuel tank removal.)
•
Remove fuel module from fuel tank.
•
Shift the tank to flushing area.
•
Fill tank with warm water or normal tap water and
agitate rigorously and drain the water.
•
Repeat this procedure until inside of tank is clean.
Replace the fuel tank if it is rusty from inside.
•
Completely flush out remainingwater after washing.
WARNING
Do not allow water to remain inside fuel tank after
washing. This will cause corrosion inside fuel tank.
Use shop cotton cloth for tank cleaning. Do not
use cotton waste.
•
Unscrew tank hexagonal mounting bolts and
loosen the tank from car under body.
