ENGINE 273 MPFI

PUMP WITH IN BUILT PRESSURE

REGULATOR :

Function:

It’s a positive displacement pump assembly driven by

motor to provide continuous flow of fuel to the high

pressure fuel system from fuel tank. This pump is inbuilt

with pressure regulator. The pressure regulator main-

tains the pressure in fuel line. A return line is provided

after fuel filter so that incase if pressure tends to rise,

excess fuel returns back to fuel tank. This ensures

the constant operating pressure of 3.5 bar in the fuel

rail. The fuel pump consists of check valve to maintain

pressure in the fuel feed line even when the fuel pump

is switched OFF.

Fuel Level Sensor Assembly

Function:

To give inputs to the fuel level unit on instrument clus-

ter which indicates the fuel level.

Multifunction Valve (Rollover valve)

It is mounted on the same flange as of electric fuel

pump.

Function:

Rollover valve has to perform following two important

functions

i. Rollover valve closes the evaporative line in case of

rollover.

ii. Acts as a vent in the evaporative control system.

FUEL FILTER :

Location:

The fuel filter is located under the body near the fuel

tank along with the pipe carrying the fuel to fuel rail.

Function:

It is made up of an outer case and an integral filter

element with high filtering capacity. It filters the fuel

being delivered under pressure by the fuel pump. This

is essential for ensuring fuel injection operation since

the injector is extremely sensitive to foreign particles

in the supply circuit. Since it cannot be disassembled,

it must be replaced as an assembly at the recom-

mended intervals. Fuel filter is not repairable.

Fuel Hoses and Lines

The delivery and return lines are made of nylon pipes.

Quick fix connectors are used at joints of inlet and

outlet pipe of fuel filter. The vapour lines are made of

rubber hoses and pipes with clamps at joints
