4.5.2.3.3 DISMANTLING INSPECTION AND AS-

SEMBLY

A. DIFFERENTIAL CASING

DISMANTLING

1. Loosen and remove the 9 bolts and 2 nuts and

take out the differential cover.

NOTE

Liquid Gasket is used for seal carrier section with

banjo beam. Scrap this sealant and clear it.

2. Remove bearing caps by removing bearing cap

bolts.

NOTE

Identification mark is punched on bearing cap; this is

to ensure correct bearing cap is installed on correct

side. Ensure correct bearing caps used while reas-

sembly.

3. Pry out differential case from carrier with help of

tommy bars

4. Remove side bearing cone from differential case

assembly using special tool mentioned below.

Press

(Part No. 2894 5890 35 19)

5. Identify shims and side bearing on both sides.

They are not to be interchanged during assembly.

6. If shims are damaged, replace with new shims

during assembly.
