EMS
Communication
Bus-Off.
EMS ECU will stop CAN communication.
1) Short circuit failure
between CAN High and
CAN Low lines.
2) Short circuit failure
between CAN High and
Battery lines.
3) Short circuit failure
between CAN Low and
Battery lines.
4) Short circuit failure
between CAN High and
Ground lines.
5) Short circuit failure
between CAN Low and
Ground lines.
6) Permanent short circuit
failure in EMS ECU.
1. Check CAN wiring harness
for short circuit failure(s).
1. Measure resistance between CAN High (3 pole
connector pin no.3) and CAN Low (3 pole connector
pin no.1) lines to detect short circuit failure.
2. Measure resistance between CAN High (3 pole
connector pin no.3) and Battery lines (EMS Pin
no.B1 or B3 or B5) to detect short circuit failure.
3. Measure resistance between CAN Low (3 pole
connector pin no.1) and Battery lines (EMS Pin
no.B1 or B3 or B5) to detect short circuit failure.
4. Measure resistance between CAN High (3 pole
connector pin no.3) and Ground lines (3 pole
connector pin no.2) to detect short circuit failure.
5. Measure resistance between CAN Low (3 pole
connector pin no.1) and Ground lines (3 pole
connector pin no.2) to detect short circuit failure.
6. If the above remedies fail to rectify the failure;
then replace EMS ECU.

Missing
Message error
With ABS/ESP
Temporary failure in CAN communication
between EMS and ABS/ESP.
1. If both U2415 and U1121
are detected by EMS ECU;
then a. All causes of U1121
detected by EMS ECU are
applicable. 2. If U1121 is
not detected by EMS ECU
and only U2415 is detected
by EMS ECU; then a.
Temporary open circuit
failure in ABS/ESP ECU
connector (due to vibration;
aging; etc.) b. Temporary
open circuit failure in EMS
ECU connector (due to
vibration; aging; etc.) c.
Temporary SW locks in
ABS/ESP ECU.
1. If both U2415 and
U1121are detected by EMS
ECU; then a. All remedies of
U1121 detected by EMS
ECU are applicable.
1. If U1121 is not detected by EMS ECU and only
U2415 is detected by EMS ECU; then
a. Check proper connectivity of CAN High (Pin
No.26) and CAN Low (Pin No.14) lines in ABS/ESP
ECU connector.
b. Check proper connectivity of CAN High (Pin
No.B53) and CAN Low (Pin No.B54) lines in EMS
ECU connector.
c. If the above remedies fail to rectify the failure;
then replace ABS/ESP ECU.
