Communication
With Vehicle
Immobilizer
Control Module.
Mutual authentication between Immobilizer
and engine EMS is interrupted.
1) Immobilizer ECU is not
connected in the Vehicle.
2) Immobilizer 5 Amps
ignition fuse blown or not
present (in Cabin Fuse
Relay Box).
3) Improper/ No Grounding
(Pin 4 of immobilizer).
4) Open Circuit on the
Ignition Line (Pin No.12) of
immobilizer.
5) Permanent open circuit
failure in CAN High line of
Immobilizer (Pin No.3) stub
(or connector) in wiring
harness.
6) Permanent open circuit
failure in CAN Low line of
Immobilizer (Pin No.5) stub
(or connector) in wiring
harness.
7) Permanent open circuit
failure in CAN High Line of
EMS (Pin No.53) stub (or
connector) in wiring
harness.
8) Permanent open circuit
failure in CAN Low Line of
EMS (Pin No.54) stub (or
connector) in wiring
harness.
9) Short circuit failure
between CAN High and
CAN Low lines.
10) Short circuit failure
between CAN High and
Battery lines.
11) Short circuit failure
between CAN Low and
Battery lines.
12) Short circuit failure
between CAN High and
Ground lines.
13) Short circuit failure
between CAN Low and
Ground lines.
14) Permanent failure in
Immobilizer.
CAN Mutual authentication
between Immobilizer and
engine EMS is failed.
1) Check if Immobilizer ECU is connected properly
in the vehicle.
2) Check if immobilizer 5 Amps Ignition fuse is
connected properly in Cabin Fuse Relay Box
(CFRB) ; if fuse not present or blown
connect/replace the fuse.
3) Switch off the Ignition.
4) Disconnect the Immobilizer connector; Check if
there is any wiring harness back out on Pin No 12
and Pin No 4 of immobile Connector.
5) Check the continuity between Pin 4 and Chassis
Ground. If there is no continuity correct the wiring
harness.
6) Switch On the Ignition; using voltmeter measure
the voltage between pin 12 and pin 4 of immobilizer
connector. Measured voltage should be with 8V to
14V range. If not correct the wiring harness.
7) After rectification switches off the ignition and
connects the immobilizer connector.
8) Check CAN wiring harness for open circuit failure
in CAN High (Pin no.3) and CAN Low (Pin no.5) of
Immobilizer stub (or connector).
9) Check CAN wiring harness for open circuit failure
in CAN High (Pin no.53) and CAN Low (Pin no.54)
of EMS stub (or connector).
10) Measure resistance between CAN High (3 pole
connector pin no.3) and CAN Low (3 pole connector
pin no.1) lines to detect short circuit failure.
11) Measure resistance between CAN High (3 pole
connector pin no.3) and Battery lines (EMS Pin
no.B1or B3 or B5) to detect short circuit failure.
12) Measure resistance between CAN Low (3 pole
connector pin no.1) and Battery lines (EMS Pin
no.B1or B3 or B5) to detect short circuit failure.
13) Measure resistance between CAN High (3 pole
connector pin no.3) and Ground lines (3 pole
connector pin no.2) to detect short circuit failure.
14) Measure resistance between CAN Low (3 pole
connector pin no.1) and Ground lines (3 pole
connector pin no.2) to detect short circuit failure.
15) If the above remedies fail to rectify failure; then
replace IMMO ECU.
