STATUS

P0118
Engine Coolant
Temperature
Sensor 1 Circuit
High.
H
1. MIL is ON.
2. Radiator fans (Fan 1 & 2) running at full
speed.
3. Restricted performance.
4. Reduced torque Mode.
5. EGR is Disabled.
6. Injector learning strategy is deactivated;
(MDP Updating is deactivated).
7. System coolant temperature slowly
moves to recovery value of 80 deg.
8. Ac is deactivated.
9.This DTC will also set P0115 - Coolant
temp fault.
This DTC gets logged if the
coolant temperature read
by the sensor is more than
upper threshold.
1. Check for Reference
voltage 1 fault or If P0115 is
present.
2. Check sensor connections
for rust dirt etc. (Coolant
temperature sensor is
located on UCL-elbow next
to vacuum pump).
3. Check sensor
characteristics (measure
voltage and resistance at
sensor terminals).
4. Check Electrical continuity.
5. Check ECU.
1. Check for Reference voltage 1 fault or If P0115 is
present; Follow Reference voltage 1 check and
rectification Procedure. Use P0115 rectification
procedure if P0115 is present.
2. Check sensor connections for rust dirt etc; clean
the sensor connections and ensure proper fitment.
3. Ensure continuity between ECU pins 72,59 and
coolant temperature sensor connector as per circuit
schematics; Rectify the harness if necessary.
Check whether the EMS ecu pin 72 is short
circuited to battery. If short circuit is found then
rectify the wiring harness connections.
4. Check Sensor connection, if not fitted properly,
correct it.
5. Check sensor characteristics (measure voltage
and resistance at sensor terminals).; Sensor
voltage should be 5 V and resistance as given is
specifications. Replace sensor if found faulty.
6. Check ECU; Replace ECU; if problem still
persists.
7. After rectification if possible carry out following
check
Soak the vehicle for more than 12 hrs. (preferably
overnight).
Then check if all the system temperature values
(coolant; fuel; inlet air) are close to each other.
