B2503 – 11: Reverse Gear Selection Switch - Circuit short to Ground or Open Circuit

Customer Symptom

1. Reverse lamps always off

2. Reverse functionality (rear wipe) affected

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

1. Reverse lamps always OFF

2. Fuse will blow in case of Base BCM

Lamp Status (If Any)

Always OFF

Fault Detection Condition

This fault will be logged after the input switch test

routine execution. User has to operate the switch

manually during routine. If short to ground or open

circuit fault is detected for reverse gear selection switch

then this DTC code will be returned with the Routine

results.

Normal Operating Condition

There should not be any fault returned by routine

Probable Trouble Area

1. BCM connector Fault

2. Reverse gear switch input Short to ground or

open circuit from cockpit wiring harness

3. Switch damaged or stuck

4. Gear selection switch side connector fault.

5. BCM ECU fault

Healing Condition

1. Ignition OFF

ON

2. Clear DTC Command

Component Details:

Reverse gear selection switch is part of gear selection switch at gear box. If the IGN is ON and user

engages the reverse gear, reverse lamps will be turned ON.

Preliminary Checks:

1. Check Battery Voltage (12.5 V & above)

2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
