B222C – 12: Low Beam Relay – Short to Battery

Customer Symptom

1. Low Beam always ON.

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

Low beam always ON.

Lamp Status (If Any)

Always ON

Fault Detection Condition

This fault gets logged by BCM when Low Beam output

is shorted to battery or open circuit

Normal Operating Condition

If the IGN is ON / ACC is ON and headlamps are active

then Low Beam shall turn ON immediately after

pressing the Low Beam switch.

Probable Trouble Area

1. BCM connector Fault

2. Front wiring harness circuit short to battery

3. Low Beam bulb blown /lamp damaged

4. BCM ECU fault

5. Low Beam mating connector fault

Healing Condition

1. Ignition OFF

ON

2. Clear DTC Command

Component Details:

Low Beam are located at headlamp of vehicle If the IGN is ON or Accessory is ON and headlamps is

active then Low Beam shall turn ON immediately after pressing the Low Beam switch.

Preliminary Checks:

1. Check Battery Voltage (9V-16V)

2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
