B2236 - 12: Position Lamp Switch - Circuit Short to Battery

Customer Symptom
Position Lamp always OFF
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
Position Lamp always OFF
Lamp Status (If Any)
Always OFF
Fault Detection Condition
This fault will be logged after the input switch test
routine execution. User has to operate the switch
manually during routine. If short to battery fault is
detected for Position Lamp switch then this DTC code
will be returned with the Routine results.
Normal Operating Condition
After execution of input switch test routine this DTC
should not be returned with routine result.
Probable Trouble Area
1. BCM connector Fault
2. Cockpit (group) wiring harness short to battery
3. Position Lamp switch/Combi switch damaged or
stuck
4. BCM ECU fault
5. Combi switch switch connector fault.
Healing Condition
1. Ignition OFF
ON
2. Clear DTC Command
Component Details:
Position Lamp switch is part of combination stalk switch and interfaced to the BCM. If the IGN is KeyIN
or KeyOut/Accessory/On and Headlamps are ON or Position lamp switch signal is active, Position lamp
will turn ON.
Preliminary Checks:
1. Check Battery Voltage (9V-16V)
2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
