8.6 GENERAL SYMPTOMS AND DIAGNOSIS

Noise in 4X4

(AUTO)

operation

Oil level is lower than minimum

required.

Top- up with specified oil.

Loosen bolts and mounting parts. Re-tighten as specified.

Noisy transfer case bearings

Replace bearings.

Worn or damaged sprocket or

drive chain.

Dismantle the assembly and

check for wear and damage.

Replace if necessary.

Incorrect tire pressure.

Adjust tire pressure.

No front wheel drive

even after TOD

working fine.

Broken chain drive.

Replace broken chain and

check other parts, replace if

necessary.

Transfer case oil

leakage.

Cracked transfer case housing.

Replace the housing.

Leakage from other parts.

Clean case parts and check for

leakage.

Breather clogging.

Remove breather, clean the

same and replace if necessary.

Oil level higher than required or

improper brand of oil being used.

Use only specified oil and adjust

oil level.

Loosened sealing bolts

Re-tighten.

Improper brand of sealant or

improperly applied sealant.

Use specified sealant

(LOCTITE

RTV 598HB)

and apply it

properly.

Worn or damaged oil seal.

Replace oil seal.

Warning Lamp is

continuously ON

Ignition/Battery Fuse or Wire

Failure, Switch Failure, FAD

Failure, EMC Failure, CAN Failure

etc.

Codes using TML diagnostic

tool.
