TRANSMISSION

11

Valve body and TECHM assembly:

The valve body assembly includes the 2

channeling plates, gasket, TECHM, Internal Mode

Switch (IMS) and Transmission Input Speed

Sensor (TISS) and Transmission Output Speed

Sensor (TOSS) wires. The TCU commands shift

solenoids and variable bleed pressure control

solenoids to control shift timing and feel. The TCU

also controls the apply and release of the torque

converter clutch which allows the engine. The

TCU is located in the transmission oil pan.

Electrical signals from various sensors provide

information to TCU about vehicle speed, throttle

position,

engine

coolant

temperature,

transmission fluid temperature, gear range

selector position, engine speed, converter turbine

speed, engine load braking and operating mode

etc.

The TCU uses this information to determine the

precise moment to upshift or downshift, apply or

release the TCC, and what fluid pressure is

needed to apply the clutches. This type of control

provides consistent and precise shift points and

shift quality based on the operating conditions...

Transmission Electro-Hydraulically Control

Module (TEHCM):

The TCU, the shift solenoids, the pressure control

solenoids, the transmission fluid temperature

sensor are packaged into a self contained control

unit, the Transmission Electro-Hydraulically

Control Module (TEHCM) bolted on the valve

body

Note:

This is for information only. Disassembly of this

component is not allowed.

Transmission 16-Way Connector Description:

The TEHCM connects to the vehicle harness 16-

way connector via a pass-thru sleeve.
