NOTE
At the spline end of pinion, there is a collapsible
spacer. Discard the same and use new one during
assembly
.
17.Collect shims and keep them together.
Replace shims if found damaged.
18.Pullout pinion oil seal with puller slide hammer
(Part No. 289458903516)
NOTE
Discard the oil seal and use new one at the time
of assembly.
19.Remove bearing cone and outer thrust washer.
20.Turn nose of carrier down. Remove outer
pinion bearing cup using tools given below:
Adaptor outer pinion bearing cup along with
baffle
(Part No. 289458903512).
Handle
(Part No. 289458903501).
21.Turn nose of carrier up and remove inner
pinion bearing cup using tools given below:
Adaptor rear pinion bearing cup
. (Part No.
289458903513).
Handle
(Part No. 289458903501).
NOTE
Pinion depth shim is located between inner pinion
bearing cone and pinion gear.
22.Remove inner pinion bearing using tools:

(Part No. 289458903519).
Adapter, rear pinion bearing cone.
(Part No.
289458903511).
WARNING
Do not allow gear to fall. It may cause serious
injuries.
Gear teeth may have sharp edges. Handle
with care to avoid any cutting.
