11.Use a suitable drift to remove the roll pin
retaining cross shaft.
12.Use hammer and punch as shown to remove
the cross pin from case.
13.Toremove side gears and pinion mate gears,
rotate the side gears. This will allow the pinion
mate gears to turn to opening of the case.
Remove pinion mate gears and spherical
washers behind the gears. Lift outside gears
and thrust washers. Inspect all parts, including
the machined surfaces of the case itself.
Where necessary, replace all worn parts.
NOTE
If excessive wear is noticed on all parts, it is
recommended that the complete differential
assembly to be replaced. If any gears are to be
replaced, they must be replaced as sets.
14.Hold companion flange with holder yoke
(Part
No. 289458903517)
, loosen and remove the
nut and take out the companion flange.
NOTE
If yoke or flange shows wear in the area of seal
contact, it should be replaced.
15.Remove pinion by tapping with mallet.
16.Hold the pinion with hand to avoid falling.
WARNING
Gear teeth have sharp edges. Handle gears
carefully to avoid injury.
