4.3.2 MAINTENANCE

4.3.2.1 PRELIMINARY INSPECTION

Check the oil level in the transfer case and top-

up if necessary.

Check for any damage on the exterior of the

transfer case.

4.3.2.2 REGULAR MAINTENANCE

A. CHANGING TRANSFER CASE OIL

! CAUTION

Before checking or removing the oil, warming

up the transfer case is necessary. This should

be done by driving the vehicle for some time.

Do not use an impact wrench to open or tighten

the drain and oil level plugs. This may damage

the threads in the transfer case.

1. Hoist the vehicle on the two poster lift.

2. Loose and remove two bolts and take out the

motor protective cover.

3. Clean the oil level plug, drain plug and

surrounding area.

4. Place a container to collect oil, under the

transfer case.

5. Remove the oil level plug.

6. Remove the drain plug and drain the oil.

7. Tighten the drain plug.

8. Fill new oil through oil level plug, until it

overflows.

9. Tighten the oil level plug.

B. TRANSFER CASE OIL CHECK

1. Switch off the engine and disconnect the

battery negative.

2. Lift the vehicle on two poster lift.

3. Clean the oil level plug and surrounding area.

4. Loosen and remove the filler plug.

5. Check the level of oil by inserting a finger in the

filler hole.

6. Transfer case oil should be till the level of filler

plug if found less top up the oil.
