REAR AXLE

Remove differential bearing Using Press Pt. no. 2698

5890 3515; Adapter, differential bearing cone Pt. no.

Identify shims and bearing of which side they are

removed.

If shims are damaged, replace with new shims at

the time of assembly. Reposition case in puller and

remove other bearing cone.

Note:

It is always preferred to replace the bearing

once pulled out but one can confirm the free

rolling of the bearing and reuse it.

Remove the ring gear screws.

Remove ring gear.

If required tap ring gear with a mallet to free it from

case. Fig. 16

Note:

Discard ring gear screws and replace with

new ones.

Remove differential case from the axle shaft and

remove ring gear.

Clamp one of the axle shaft in vice firmly.

Caution:

Vise jaws should not locate on axles

splines or any machined surfaces.

Install the differential on axle shaft.
