V. Fuel Filter Replacement :

WARNING

Petrol and petrol fumes are extremely

flammable! If petrol fumes or

a

fuel leak is

detected, do not start the vehicle or allow

an open flame or spark near the vehicle.

Have the fuel leak repaired immediately.

The fuel system is under pressure. Relieve

fuel system pressure before replacing the

filter.

Petrol is an irritant. Wash hands

immediately after handling fuel.

Description :

The fuel filter is located beside the vehicle

fuel tank. A band clamp secures the fuel filter

in place. Replace the fuel filter when

changing the engine oil (at 30,000 km or 2

years whichever is earlier). When the vehicle

is operated in adverse conditions or where

fuel quality is questionable, more frequent

replacement may be necessary.

Inspection :

1. Check fuel filter as per following procedure.

a. Release the fuel system pressure as

mentioned above for ‘Removal of tank’

b. Disconnect negative battery terminal.

c. Jack up the vehicle / hoist the vehicle.

d. Install pressure gauge having a range of 0-

10 bar at the delivery port of T connector.

e. Connect negative battery terminal.

f. Connect fuel pump connectors.

g. Turn ignition switch ‘ON’ - run engine idle.

h. Measure fuel pressure on gauge it should

be 4 bar.

i. If it is not, replace filter and retest.

j. If it is OK assemble fuel filter.

Removal :

1. Relieve fuel system pressure by removing

the power supply to the system fuel pump

and cranking the engine.

2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.

3. Lift the vehicle on the hoist.

4. Remove the fuel line connections (Quick fit

Connectors) to the fuel filter.

5. Loosen the bolts, securing the fuel filter, in

the mounting bracket.

6. Remove the fuel filter from the mounting

bracket.

Installation :

1. Place the fuel filter in the mounting bracket.

Be sure to orient the fuel filter in the proper

direction.

2. Tighten the bolts that secure the filter in the

mounting bracket.

3. Connect the fuel lines to the filter, making

sure the lines are secure.

4. Lower down the vehicle from hoist

5. Start the engine and inspect the connections

for leaks. Stop the engine immediately and

repair any leaks.

CAUTION

A small amount of fuel may be released

after fuel hose is disconnected. To avoid

the chance of accident, cover hose and

pipe disconnected with a shop cloth
