PRECAUTIONS
•
Ensure that the engaging gears are properly
assembled on shafts over respective circlip.
•
Ensure that the oil seals are free from dust
particles and Smear grease to dust leap.
•
Use special tools for removal and fitment of
transaxle bearings.
•
Ensure proper fitment of shifter sleeve assembly
(sleeve carrier, spring and ball) on synchro-cone
and respective shaft.
•
Ensure no damage is done to reverse switch, speed
sensor during handling.
•
Ensure that the oil is completely drained before
commencing the dismantling procedure.
•
Wherever thread lock gum is used for fasteners,
precoated fasteners can be used alternatively. Do
not reuse the precoated fasteners.
Oil Seals:
•
Check the shaft for any dents / grooves / machine
leads while fitting a new oil seal. The area falling
under the lip should be free from any dents / marks
/ grooves.
•
Light lubrication of the lip before assembly is
recommended.
•
Seal should be held on the outside only and not by
putting the finger through the lid.
•
If there are splines / keys on the shaft, they should
be covered and care should be taken not to rub the
lip while inserting the shaft.
•
In case a groove / marking of the earlier seal is
found, then change the current position of the seal
so that the lip does not shift on the groove.
•
Care should be taken to fit the seal without any
skewness. Use of drifts to assemble them is
recommended.
•
If for some reason, the oil seal is removed from the
existing position either for repair or replacement of
any other component, the oil seal should not be
reused.
