6. GAS INJECTOR
1. Function:
Fuel injection system is the latest technology that
increases the fuel efficiency of the engine. The most
important component in this system is the injector.
This device is used to inject fuel in manifold. It is a
highly precise component that is controlled by ECU.
2. Working Principle:
The injectors are normally closed and open when the
electromagnetic core is energized. The gas under
pressure flows through metering orifice. This ensures
consistent flow rate for a given Injector opening time.
3.
Type: Solenoid
4. System Integration:
ECU provides drive signal to Injector (normally
closed) to open and remain in open condition (pulse
width-ms) depending upon the engine operating
conditions (speed/load). Also the pulse width is
compensated for low battery voltage condition. The
concept of Sequential injection means when ECU
provides drive signal to each injector separately at
the end of compression.
5. Fitment Detail:
Two numbers of injectors are first fitted on Gas rail
and then assembled on Intake manifold and the gas
is fed by a common Gas rail so that the gas injection
from each injector is directed towards inlet port.
6. Component Location:
7. Installation Guidelines:
Don’t use Injector which looks damaged or
dropped on the ground or subjected to any type
of shock with a tool etc.
The gas sealing zones of the injector (nozzle,
gaskets and connections) must be free from
cracks, dents, burrs and foreign bodies.
During the fitment/removal of the injector, the
force applied to the connecting pipes of the
injector must be in the direction of their axis in
order to avoid breaking one of the connections
due to too a high force.
The maximum force applied to the connections
must not exceed 100N.
During installation of the injectors O-ring, clip
must be lubricated. This lubrication makes the
installation easier and prevents any seizing risk
between the nozzle and the manifold.
No tools are required for the injector installation,
normal hand pressure is sufficient (apply force
on the injector axis until Gas rail touches Intake
manifold.
Use of improper tools/practices can damage the
injectors which may lead to leakages causing
safety hazards.
