16. Fit the tool (1) on the lower cylinder head as
shown in the figure.
17. Remove the cotters (2).
18. Remove the valve upper shim (3).
19. Remove the valve spring (4).
20. Remove the valve guide oil seal ring with built-
in lower valve shim (5).
21. Remove the valve (6).
22. Carry out the same operations on the other
valves.
23. Replace the valve guides (Refer to 09 - Engine/
Cylinder Head/VALVES/SEATS/GUIDES, Intake
and Exhaust/Removal and Installation).
FITMENT
1. Clean any residues from the old gasket from the
lower cylinder head plane.
2. Fit the valves in their housings on the lower
cylinder head.
3. Place the valve guide oil seal (1a) in its housing
using the dedicated tool 1870897100 (1b).
4. Fit the valve spring in its seat.
5. Refit the upper valve shim.
6. Place the cotters in their housings.
7. Carry out the same operations on the other
valves.
8. Remove the tool 1860470000 used for
disconnecting/reconnecting the valves.
9. Reposition the lower cylinder head in the vice
using the support tool.
10. Install the glow plugs and tighten to the proper
(Torque Specifications).
11. Install a NEW gasket on the water pump and
fold the retaining tabs over.
12. Install the water pump (1a) and tighten the
NEW bolts (1b) to the proper (Torque
Specifications).
13. Install the fuel return manifold and the air
pressure/ temperature sensor on the intake
chamber in their housings.
14. Install the throttle body and securely tighten the
fixing bolts.
