B2240- 12: Rear Wiper Relay Short to BATT

Customer Symptom
Rear Wiper is always OFF even though not requested
through switch.
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
Rear Wiper motor is always OFF.
Lamp Status (If Any)
NA
Fault Detection Condition
This fault will be logged with IGN ON and Rear wiper
switch request.
Normal Operating Condition
IGN ON and No DTC logged. Rear wiper operates only
when requested through switch.
Probable Trouble Area
1. BCM connector Fault.
2. Rear harness Short to Ground.
3. Relay fault.
4. ECU fault.
Healing Condition
1. Switch request after fault removal
2. Clear DTC command- No DTC logged
Component Details:
BCM drives the Rear wiper motor through this relay by providing GND to the relay coil. Hence in case this
output is shorted to BATT the relay will be continuously OFF even though user request through combi switch.
Preliminary Checks:
1. Check Battery Voltage (9V-16V)
2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
Trouble Shooting:-
