Rear Defogger DTCs
B221E - 11: Heated Rear Windscreen Relay - circuit short to ground
Overview:

Customer Symptom
1. Rear window always heated without input
2. In case of ETC variant CCM LED always ON
without user request.
3. In case of FATC variant CCM LED will be turned
on for short period and remains OFF after user
request.
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
1. Rear de-fogger always on
2. Battery discharge
Lamp Status (If Any)
NA
Fault Detection Condition
If engine is running and rear-defogger is requested ON
and the rear defogger relay is shorted to ground.
Normal Operating Condition
Rear window will be started heating only on user
request.
Probable Trouble Area
1. BCM Cockpit Wiring harness faulty
2. BCM connector Fault
3. Infotainment ECU Fault
4. BCM ECU fault
Healing Condition
1. Ignition OFF
ON
2. Clear DTC Command
Component Details:
If engine is running with more than 600 rpm, the Rear Defogger would be started by pressing Rear
Defogger switch either on the FACIA switch bank or on FATC control panel.
Preliminary Checks:
1. Check Battery Voltage (9V-16V)
2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
