B221F – 15: Left Front Fog Lamp Circuit – Short to Battery or Open Circuit

Customer Symptom

1. Left Front Fog Lamps always ON.

2. Facia Switch illumination for rear fog lamp

always ON

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

1. Left Front Fog Lamps always ON.

2. Facia Switch illumination for rear fog lamp

always ON

3. Battery drain

Lamp Status (If Any)

Always ON

Fault Detection Condition

This fault gets logged by BCM when left front fog lamp

output is shorted to battery or open circuit

Normal Operating Condition

If the IGN is ON and headlamps / position lamps are ON

then front fog lamps turn ON immediately after pressing

the front fog lamp switch.

Probable Trouble Area

1. BCM connector Fault

2. Left front fog lamp output wire Short to battery or

open circuit

3. Left front Fog Lamp bulb blown /lamp damaged

4. BCM ECU fault

5. Left front fog lamp mating connector fault

Healing Condition

1. Ignition OFF



2. Clear DTC Command

Component Details:

Left front fog lamps are located at left front side of vehicle. If the IGN is ON and headlamps / position

lamps are ON and user presses the front fog lamp switch then front fog lamps turn ON.

Preliminary Checks:

1. Check Battery Voltage (12.5 V & above)

2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
