Trouble Shooting:
Step Checks
IF YES

Check the Electrical Continuity between the water in fuel
sensor and EMS ECU. For pin details, refer schematic
section below.
Go to next step
Rectify the wiring
harness
connections as per
the circuit
schematic.

Are there any pins damaged at EMS ECU Connector
Replace the
connector or wiring
harness
Go to Next Step

Are there any pins backed out from the EMS ECU
Connector
Rectify/Replace
Connectors
Go to Next Step

Check whether any of the water in fuel sensor interfaced
pin - K009 (EMS pin) & water in fuel sensor pin 8 and 10
are short-circuited to Battery / Ground.
Rectify the wiring
Harness
Connections
Go to Next Step.

Take out the Fuel sample (1 KG) from subject vehicle’s fuel
tank and check for presence of water in fuel. Is substantial
water is present (means water content greater than 200
mg/KG % as per BS4 emission norms)?
Note: Apparatus for measuring water level in fuel shall be
purchased by dealer with good accuracy.
Recommend driver
to fill in good quality
fuel and check
whether any Engine
parts like injectors
are already
damaged. If so, call
hotline for
assistance.
Note: Refer
Component
replacement
procedure if any
component needs to
be replaced.
Go to next step.

Perform the water wading test with bonnet open and check
whether any water is ingressed into fuel filter
If so perform
necessary
corrections to avoid
water ingress
Go to next step

Fault persists
Call Hotline
Repeat the above
steps for re-
confirmation
DTC’s confirmation:
After rectification, Test Drive the vehicle for 2 KM and ensure that no DTC’s are logged in ECM.
Before handing over the vehicle to the customer, perform the Routine – “
Reset driven distance H2O in fuel lamp ON”.
Otherwise, OBD tool shows vehicle driven with WIF ON a huge value.
