8.9.8 TAILGATE SWITCH

FUNCTION:

Tailgate switch is switched on or off in response to

opening and closing of Tailgate. Tailgate opening

& closing is part of central door locking.

LOCATION:

It is fitted on the tail gate.

REMOVAL:

1. Open the tail gate.

2. Remove one mounting screw.

3. Pull out the switch from the cutout and

disconnect the electrical connection

4. Take out the tail gate switch.

INSPECTION:

Test the switch with a Multimeter. Clip the probe of

the multimeter to switch terminal & body ground

and check the continuity.

CONDITION

SPECIFIED

Not Pushed(ON)

Continuity

Pushed(OFF)

No continuity

If not as per specified condition, then replace the

switch.

REFITMENT

1. Connect the electrical connection to the tail

gate switch.

2. Locate the switch in the cutout of tail gate.

3. Fit one mounting screw to the tail gate switch.

Tightening torque for screw – 0.3 to 0.6 Kgfm
