WINDSHIELD GLASS
REMOVAL
1. Remove the leaf screen mould and then
remove the leaf screen assembly.
(For
procedure refer leaf screen removal process in
this section.)
2. Remove the windshield finisher from both side.
3. Remove the “A” pillar trim from both ends.
4. Make a small hole in the sealant from the inside
of the cabin near “A” pillar.
5. Pass a steel file through this hole and wrap
each end around wood.
! CAUTION
Use appropriate protection to the components
to avoid any accidental damage.
Do not damage the windshield glass dashboard
and sheet metal parts.
!! WARNING
Put on gloves to protect your hands.
Wear eye protection while cutting the glass
sealant with steel wire.
6. With a helper on the outside, pull the steel wire
back and forth in sawing motion. Hold the steel
wire as close to the windshield as possible to
prevent damage to the sheet metal
components.
7. Carefully cut the sealant around the entire
windshield.
FITMENT
NOTE
Before fixing the windshield glass following
preparations need to be done on the glass and
body shell flange area.
PREPARATION ON GLASS
Clean the glass with Cleaner Terostat-8550.Allow
it to dry completely. Assemble the rubber mould to
the glass.
Apply a thin and even coat (
Approximately 0.5mm
thick wet layer)
of primer Terostst-8511 on glass.
Allow it to dry for minimum 2 minutes.
Fill up the mould groove with sealant Terostat-
8590 with the applicator gun.
(This sealant at later
stage spreads on glass and mating shell flange
area, when glass is fixed.)
PREPARATION ON BODY SHELL
Clean the Body shell Flange area confirming to
glass with Cleaner Terostat-8550. Allow it to dry
completely.
Apply a thin and even coat
(Approx. 0.5mm thick
wet layer) of primer Terostat - 8521 on painted
surface. A
llow it to dry for minimum 2 minutes.
After the above preparation mount the glass on the
body flange from outside. This operation should be
done within 20 minutes of the application if sealant
on the glass.
After mounting the glass, the same has to be
pulled towards inside of body with the help of
vacuum cups.
Slightly tap the glass all around with hand for
proper seating of glass mould.
Wipe off the excessive spill off of sealant with
clean dry rags. Do not use ISOPROPANOL.
Keep the vacuum cups pulled for 10 -12 minutes
as mentioned above.
Press the windshield glass using belt tensioner.
Do not drive the vehicle for 2 hours.
TAILGATE GLASS FITMENT
Apply promoter 4299 / N200 on the glass. Allow
the primer to dry for minimum 5 minutes.
Fix the glass hider seal to the LH and RH side of
the glass. Start fixing from the bottom edge to the
top edge of the glass.
