TRANSFER CASE
LUBRICATION
Precaution
* Before checking or removing the oil, warming up
the transfer case is necessary.This should be done
by driving the vehicle for some time.
* Do not use an impact wrench to open or tighten
the drain and oil level plugs.This may damage the
threads in the transfer case.
Checking Oil Level
* Clean the oil level plug and surrounding area
* Remove the oil level plug and check whether oil is
dripping out
* If oil is not dripping out, oil level is below the
required level. Add specified oil to bring it to the
level, so its starts dripping out
* Tighten the oil level plug
Changing
* Clean the oil level plug, drain plug andsurround-
ing area
* Place a container to collect oil, under the transfer
case
* Remove the drain plug
* Remove the oil level plug
* Let the oil drain out
* Tighten the drain plug
* Fill new oil through oil level plug, till it begins to
drip out
* Tighten the oil level plug
Lubrication Schedule
Frequency
Procedure
With each engine oil change or 10,000 kms /
Check transfer case oil level, if required, top up
6000 miles which ever occurs earlier.
Yearly or after every 45,000 kms / 27,000 miles Change transfer case oil with the specified lubricant
which ever occurs earlier.
