3.1 GENERAL INFORMATION

A. ENGINE INTRODUCTION :

The

“1.05L REVOTORQ”

is a new

generation 3 Cylinder 1.05L Common-Rail

Turbocharger Intercooled Diesel Engine.

This Engine is fitted with “Delphi” common

rail system with 1600 bar injection pressure which

is controlled by a 32 bit Electronic Control Unit

(ECU).

The Engine performance is optimized for

various engine speed, load and operating

conditions depending upon the various sensor’s

inputs.

The Waste Gate turbocharger (WGT)

used on this engine works on Turbine Technology

(WGT) having low inertia of turbine and

compressor wheels which reduce the turbo lag at

low engine speeds and improves the transient

response of the vehicle.

The fuel economy and emission has been

optimized at source by means of low engine

friction, faster engine warm up, centralized piezo

injectors, optimized combustion,

Close-Coupled

Catalytic Converter (CCC) etc.

Hydraulic Lash Adjusters and Roller

Finger Followers are used for maintenance free

quiet operation and reduced friction. Toothed belt

drive with belt auto tensioner is used for quiet

Engine operation for longer period & for ease of

serviceability. The Engine NVH is optimized by

using a balance shaft, optimized Engine mounts,

multiple injection strategy etc. The Engine weight

has been optimized by using Aluminum cylinder

head, gallery cooled piston, Aluminum Alloy

auxiliary brackets, non linered cylinder block with

spherical skirt, superior alloy material for high

strength.
