8.15 REVERSE PARKING SYSTEM WITH ULTRASONIC SENSOR (

If equipped

):

DESCRIPTION:

Ultrasonic sensor based reverse parking system will assist the driver in reversing / parking

the vehicle with

the help of four sensors mounted on the rear bumper.

They monitor a proximity of approx. 0.30

m to 1.2 m behind the vehicle. Obstacles are detected and brought to the driver's attention by acoustic

means and visual indication. System works on the reflection of ultrasonic sound principle. After engaging the

vehicle in reverse gear, system detects the obstacle behind the vehicle within the sensing zone which can

not be viewed by internal rear view mirror and outer rear view mirrors. Based on the reflected ultrasonic

signal information coming from the sensors, the Controller detects and estimates the proximity of the

obstacle with respect to rear bumper as soon as Reverse gear status is ON. Based on the proximity, audible

beeps will be generated with the help of buzzer. Graphical representation of the proximity is also displayed in

the IRVM Screen.

Detection range of parking systems with all-round monitoring

Sensing ranges are as follows,

Obstacle at above 1.2 m – Zone 1, No indication.

Obstacle between 1.2 m – 1.0 m - Zone 1, Green, slow beep.

Obstacle between 0.9 m – 0.7 m - Zone 2, Amber, Fast beep.

Obstacle between 0.6 m – 0.30 m - Zone 3, Red, Continuous beep with STOP signal in the display

Obstacle less then 0.3 m – Zone 4, dark zone, and system cannot ensure the detection of the obstacle.
