ENGINE 273 MPFI

3.11.2 SENSORS

CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR

Component Information:

Type: - DG6-P

Location :

This sensor is mounted on the cylinder block as

shown.

Installation Method

The DG6 provides Twist Incentive Mounting (TIM), i.e.

the sensor can be twisted in front of the target wheel

and the full function is still given. This offers a flexible

mounting of the sensor in the engine.

Installation Torque - 8 N-m +/- 2 N-m

Air gap = 0.3 to 1.8 mm

Storage Condition

Storage temperature

-10°C to 55°C

Relative humidity

max. 85%

Shelf life from production date 5 years

Working Principle

Due to the rotation of a ferromagnetic target wheel in

front of the DG the magnetic field of a magnet is

modulated at the place of a coil, i.e. with a tooth in

front of the DG the magnetic flux through the coil will

increase, with a slot it will decrease. This modulation

results in changes of the output signal/voltage. The

change of themagnetic field causesmagnetic induction

in coil by variation of the magnetic flux.
