Inspect a/c compressor operation Start
Ignition Turn both A/C switch and blower
switch on.
Does A/C compressor operate?
Yes
Go to next step
No
Go to next step

Inspect a/c switch indicator light Does
a/c switch indicator light illuminate
Yes
Go to step 5.
No
Go to next step.

Inspect a/c switch Inspect A/C switch is
it okay?
Yes
Yes
Inspect wiring harness between climate
control unit and resistor.
No
Replace climate control unit.

Inspect a/c relay
(Coil-side)
Inspect A/C
relay. Is it okay
Yes
Repair wiring harness between A/C relay
and PCM
(Terminal S).
No
Replace A/C relay

Inspect a/c relay
(Switch-side)
Inspect
A/C relay.
Is it okay?
Yes
Install A/C relay, then go to next step.
No
Replace A/C relay

Verify whether malfunction is in magnet-
ic clutch and thermal protector or wiring
harness
(Between a/c relay and magnet-
ic clutch)
Test voltage at magnetic clutch con-
nector terminal A
(A/C control signal
). Is
voltage approximately 12 V?
Yes
Inspect magnetic clutch, If magnetic clutch
is normal Recheck malfunction symptoms,
then repeat from Step 1 if malfunction re-
curs. If magnetic clutch is malfunctioning:
Replace compressor, then go to next step
No
Repair wiring harness between A/C relay
and magnetic clutch, then go to next step.

Verify that malfunction symptom occurs
after repair
Does cool air blow out?
(Is refrigerant
system performance test result correct?)
Yes
Troubleshooting completed. Explain re-
pairs to customer.
No
Recheck malfunction symptoms, then re-
peat from Step 1 if malfunction recurs.
