D. FATC CONTROL PANEL

FATC is an electronic control unit known as the con-

trol panel having a built in algorithm to maintain the

climate control system in the vehicle. It is capable of

controlling the temperature, FAN speed, air-

distribution settings in the passenger compartment

and with the Auto button, the user can select all the

above settings to be controlled automatically by the

climate control algorithm. The layout of the knobs

and pushbuttons on the control panel are as below.

KNOBS DESCRIPTION:

A FATC control panel manages the climate control

system, it is the driver's interface to the system. The

FATC receives driver's input signal and various input

signals from sensors and controls the actuators to

maintain driver's desired settings.

i. AC COMPRESSOR ON / OFF BUTTON

Press the AC compressor ON/OFF button to turn

the air conditioning ON or OFF.

ii. BLOWER SPEED CONTROL KNOB

a. Rotate the knob clockwise to increase the blower

speed up to MAX (Speed 7), whereas

anticlockwise would reduce the speed up to Min

(Speed 1).

Blower control shall indicate the control of the quan-

tity of airflow, which is accomplished by controlling

the speed of the blower fan. The Blower control shall

happen either manually or through an automatic

climate control algorithm

iii. MAX DEFROST BUTTON

a. This button directs the main airflow towards

windscreen for faster defrosting (It also overrides

any mode selection you may have made.)

b. When you turn off the button, the system returns

to its former settings.
